William Derrell Ensley

William Derrell Ensley, age 77, of Sylva died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Med West Harris of Sylva, NC. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Derrell was born July 9, 1936.. He is the son of the late William Allen and the late Annie Lou (Buchanan) Ensley. He served in the United States Air Force. He was employed for 33 years as a printer by the Sylva Herald. He liked to garden and loved to read. Derrell was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Edgar A. Ensley. He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years: Gail (Waldroup) Ensley ; a sister Geraldine and husband Ray Witt of Bethalto, Il; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Ensley of Sylva and Teresa and husband Perry Waldroup of Robbinsville, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 24 at Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with Rev. Joshua Blythe officiating. Burial will be in Dills Cemetery, Sylva. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. .
