William Roger Collins

William Roger Collins, Sr., 81, of Webster, passed away Saturday October 25, 2014. A native of Phenix City, Alabama, he was the son of the late Malcom Dean and Willie Maude Smith Collins. An U.S. Air Force Veteran he served in Korea and North Japan. He retired from the U.S. Information Agency (VOA), and was a member of Sylva United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Collins and by 2 sisters, Virginia Lee Greir and Ramona Grissom. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Nancy McNeill Collins Son- William (Bill) Roger Collins Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Sylva 2 Daughters- Cathy-Ruth Collins of Webster and Karen Ann Hames and her husband Robert of Charleston, SC 2 sisters-Evelyn Ellerbe of Preston, GA and Barbara Martin of Anderson, SC Grandchildren- Ruth Webb (Kevin), Mary Hill (Jason), Leigh Ann Cordes (Phil), David Hames (Erin), Amaris and Renee Hames, Chris, Hannah and Olivia Collins 1 Great Grandson- Josiah Hill as well a many nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the Jackson County EMS for all their help and support over the past couple of years. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday November 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Presbyterian Church in McColl, SC. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sylva First United Methodist Church or to the Sylva First Baptist Church or any charity of your choice in Bill's name.
