Wayne L. Trantham, age 64, of Tuckasegee passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was the son of the late Philip and Mary Belle Trantham. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Paul Trantham, as well as four infant brothers.
Wayne is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Arlene Mathis Trantham. Also surviving are one son Stacey Trantham of Waynesville; one daughter, Amanda (Kenneth) Moody of Clyde; one grandson, Tristan Trantham of Ellenboro, NC; three brothers, Odell (Ida) Trantham of Concrete, WA, Carl “Red” Trantham of Cashiers, Ray (Debbie) Trantham of Dillsboro; three sisters, Fannie Mae Thompson and Frankie Nell Johnson, both of Sylva and Elizabeth Bennett of Cullowhee; as well as sisters-in-law Carolyn Trantham of Tuckasegee and Beverly Moore of Michigan. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive as well as his Trout Creek Baptist Church family of Tuckasegee.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 26th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Mark Stiles and Mr. Gary Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening May 25th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mathis Cemetery.
