Virginia Louise Greene

Virginia Louise "Lou" Greene, passed away peacefully after a brave fight with cancer on Wednesday March 10, 2016, at home surrounded by numerous family and friends in Sylva, NC. She was born March 3, 1948 in Haywood County to the late Gilberta Saunders. She loved spending time with her family and friends, volunteering and crafting and fishing with her friends. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of more than 50 years, Jimmy "Weasel" Greene; two children, Janilla Greene (Randy) of Sylva, Cathy Greene of Franklin. Two Grandson Max Powell (Ashley Cook), Steven Powell, Also surviving are three great grandsons Davey & William McCoy and Chase "Scooter" Powell, one sister Joyce Cabe (Larry) and her sister in law Karen Saunders, several nieces and nephews and a very special group of loving friends. Two brothers Thomas "Jack" Saunders and Frank "Eugene" Saunders preceded her in death. Pallbearers will be Chris Saunders, Clay Saunders, Randy "Stick" Williamson, David Bowers, Bruce Jones and Terry Dillard. With honorary pallbearers as Jack Parris, Dustin Williamson, Sam Cogdill and Curtis Allison. The family will receive friends Sunday March 13, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00pm with the funeral to follow at 3:00pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Service with Rev. Dennis Burrell and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Old Savannah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that money be sent to Appalachian Funeral Service to help with final arrangement at 165 Skyland Dr. Sylva, NC 28779.
