Vester Guy Blanton Jr.

Vester Guy Blanton Jr., 86, of Sylva, passed away Monday morning April 6, 2020. He was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Omaha Neb. He moved, after service, to Raleigh taking the job with the NCDOT Mapping Department from which he retired. Guy was born Dec. 17, 1933 in Jackson County to his late parents, Vester Guy Blanton Sr. and Edith Hensley Blanton. Also preceding him in death were his sister Wanda Blanton Phillips and husband Alden Dale Phillips. Guy is survived by his only child, Kristen Caldwell Blanton of Raleigh; two brothers, Ray Marcus Blanton Sr. and wife Doralee of Sylva, and Charles Kenneth Blanton and wife Elaine of Weaverville; and a special cousin, J.T. " Pete" Dills and wife Gail, of Oklahoma. A Graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Farmer officiating.
