Troy Eugene West

On January 7, 2025, Troy West went to his heavenly home. Troy was born on April 10, 1941 to the late Clyde and Ada West. He was proceeded in death by three sisters and one brother. Troy was a member of Balsam Baptist Church.

Troy was a man with a heartwarming smile and the gift of making everyone around him laugh. He was always full of jokes and stories of his youthful mischief that brought joyful laughter. He will always be remembered for his kind smile and the smiles he brought to those around him.

Troy was a true outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. As an avid bear hunter, he found joy in the thrill of the hunt and the triumphant howl of the dogs as they treed a bear. From a tree stand in Georgia to a fishing boat in Canada, Troy’s life was a celebration of the great outdoors.

Though his wife and love of his life, Phyllis, preceded him in death, they are forever reunited in heaven. 

Their legacy shines through their children, Judy Warlick (Ernie) of Waynesville, NC; Brenda Streeter (Neil) of Mt. Gilead, NC; Doug West (June) of Waynesville, NC; Wanda Lyda (Eddie) of Brevard, NC, along with a special brother-in-law, Donald Parris of Sylva, NC. Also surviving are six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, brother Floyd West (Sherry) of Waynesville, NC; sisters Marie Morrison of Chester, SC and Joyce Swanger (Jay) of Dawsonville, GA.

A private family burial will take place at a later time. Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva assisted the family with the arrangements.
