Thomas William Stearns

Thomas William Stearns, age 56, of Sylva passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Tommy had been a resident of Jackson County since 1997. He was born in Anderson, SC to the late Kurt Stearns and the late Victoria Gorskey Stearns. He was master motorcycle mechanic and was also an electrician employed by Booth Electric. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sylva. Tommy is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joan Hooper Stearns as well as his daughter, Emily Stearns of Eden, NC. He is also survived by three sisters; Martha Hozey, Ann Stearns, and Ruth Paul, all of SC and two brothers; Frank Stearns of PA and Paul Stearns of SC. Two nieces; Rachel and Victoria Paul of SC also survive. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Sylva with the Rev. Mike Shurford officiating. .
