Teresa Karen Greene

Teresa Karen Greene, age 61, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, July 6, 2023, after a period of declining health.  Karen was a native of Jackson County and a resident of the Barkers Creek community.  She was the daughter of Clyde Greene and the late Willa Mae Greene.
 
Karen graduated from Sylva-Webster High School in 1980.  She began her career in banking with Wachovia Bank where she worked for 24 years.  She continued with her banking career at the State Employees Credit Union in Bryson City where she had been employed for the last 19 years.  She was a charter member of the Mt. Zion Baptist church.  Karen loved spending time with her family and will be missed by many. 

She will be missed by her loving father, Clyde; sister, Kerri Abbott (Gary) of Franklin TN, who loved her dearly; niece, Marissa Abbott of Atlanta; nephew, Ryan Abbott of Nashville, both of whom she adored; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and co-workers. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Appalachian Funeral Services with a Funeral Service at 2:00PM. Pastor Tommy Ashe, officiating.   Interment will follow at Barkers Creek Cemetery, Whittier NC.
