Teresa Carol Bailey

Teresa Carol Bailey, 57, of the Whittier community, passed away on March 5th, 2022, after a dedicated, difficult, long-fought battle with cancer.

Teresa, born on November 19th,1964 to Harold and Joyce Bailey in Atlanta, Georgia, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Teresa went on to graduate from Cherokee High School, earlier than her classmates, and eventually pursued a career in childcare, owning her own home-daycare center. 

In grade school, Teresa met Gary Cowart - though they went their separate ways, they reconnected in their adult lives and the two were inseparable from that point on. Over the course of two decades, Teresa and Gary raised three children: Misty, Patience, and Ryan. 

Teresa was a fiercely dedicated mom to all of her children, raising all three of them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Teresa, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Upon hearing of her illness, Teresa was understandably scared, but turned her fear over to God. She was loved by many and had the support of a community that helped her fight a battle that most could not. Her family is overwhelmingly thankful for the warmth and love poured into Teresa over the course of her journey. 

Teresa was predeceased by her life partner, Gary Cowart; and her father, Harold Bailey. She is survived by her mother: Joyce Turner Bailey; her children: Misty Free (Anthony), Patience Sweet (Michael Shuler), Ryan Bailey; her grandchild: Chloe Smith; her loving partner: Mathew Bible; her sisters: Gayla Burger, Sally Cope; many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and extended family who all had the privilege of loving her; and her cat Moses, who offered countless days of companionship and love during the hardest times.
