Tearl France Ashe, age 93, of Sylva died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at home in Sylva. Tearl was born November 6, 1922 in Macon County, NC. He is the son of the late William Lonnie and the late Elmina (Wilkes) Ashe. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by a son, Donald Ashe; two brothers, Harold and Paul Ashe; and two sisters, Pallie Ghormley and Hallie Ashe.
He served in the Army Air Combat during World War II. He was based in Italy and supported missions over Europe, France, and Normandy. He earned a EAMet Campaign Medal with Ten Bronze Service Stars. He was employed by the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation, as a highway landscaper. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden. He loved spending time with his family and grandson.
He is survived by his wife: Rose Mary (Hall) Ashe; his brother, Claude Ashe; his grandson, Jason and Chanta Ashe; and great grandson, Ryan Ashe.
