Sue Ensley Cowan, 85, of Sylva, passed away Tuesday May 6, 2014. A native of Jackson County she was the daughter of the late Haynes and Selma Carnes Ensley. She was preceded in death by her husband's Sergeant Robert H. Ensley formerly of the N.C. State Highway Patrol and Roger Bryant Cowan, Sisters Helen Walker, Mildred Stillwell, Bobbie Nell Gunter, brothers Olin and Logan Ensley and a granddaughter Kerry Dianna Hall.
She is survived by
Son- Richard Ensley of Arden
2 Daughters- Kathy Hall
Gaye Buchanan (Carroll) both of Sylva
Grandchildren- Jeff Buchanan (Kelly), Amy B. Pitts (Jerry), Josh Hall
5 Great Grandchildren and 5 Stepchildren. One Brother Mack ( Angie) Ensley of Battleground Washington.
And a special friend Nancy Decker
Sue is a member of First Baptist Church of Sylva and a former Sunday School Teacher and GA Leader. She is a former employee of Enole Market Place and Nancy Tut's Christmas Shop and the North Carolina DOT. She was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan and loved to grow roses and cook delicious meals for her family and friends
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday May 9 at Sylva First Baptist Church with the Revs. Eddie Stillwell and Jeff Mathis officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 till 2:00 prior to the service at the church.
