Shirley Ann Streater

Shirley C. Streater, 74, of Sylva, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, August 19, 2015. A resident of Jackson County most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Canary and the late Amanda Chavis. Shirley is a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Sylva and she loved working with children at the day care center. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved to sing. She loved cooking, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Willis James Streater, Jr.; 2 sons-Jimmy and Steve Streater and a sister, Mary Ester Chavis. She is survived by 1 daughter, Faith Moody (Jasper) of Charlotte and 1 son Eric Streater of Sylva. She has 4 grandchildren- Stephie Streater, Adrienne Streater, Maurice Streater, and Jordan Byrd and 1 great granddaughter-Savannah. She is also survived by 3 brothers-Lockwood Chavis of Franklin, James Chavis of High Point and Ross Chavis of Greensboro. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Tues, August 25th at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Lee officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. . .
