Shirley Ann Moody Blankenship, 65, of the Caney Fork Community, peacefully passed on to be with her Lord and Savior in the morning hours of February 25, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents Morris Gene and Lucille Blankenship. She leaves behind her younger brother, Michael Gene Blankenship and three younger sisters, Michelle Cabe, Cindy Good, and Patty Brown, nephew Andrew Gordon and stepmother Janie Blankenship.
Born to Gene and Lucille Blankenship on the ninth day of September 1952 in Camp Lejeune, NC, Shirley graduated Oak Ridge High School in 1970 in Orlando, Florida. There she worked for projects and promotions for Disney World. She developed a great affection for horses and the "cowboy" way of life. At 18 she was crowned "best dressed cowgirl" for the 1972 Kissimmee Valley Rodeo Championship.
After marrying Shirley moved to Hendersonville where she went to a trade school with Rockwell and became a certified machinist. She became disabled from an on the job injury but continued to work at the community college bookstore until her diagnosis. In spite of her diagnosis, Shirley maintained a very positive mental attitude and refused to give up or give in. She spent her final days just like SHE wanted . . . in her own home . . . surrounded by TRUE family and friends until the good Lord called her home. May God bless and keep us all.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 12:00pm at John's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Burrell officiating.
