Sara Laveine Middleton

Sara ( Sally) Laverne (Buckner) Middleton, age 85, of Waynesville, formerly of Sylva, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Middleton was born July 14, 1926 in Asheville, NC. She is the daughter of the late Ezekial Hardy and the late Kathleen (Morris) Buckner. She was preceded in death by her first husband James S. Justice; a brother, Morris Buckner, and a stepson, James S. Justice, Jr. She was a retired nurse . She loved animals. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sylva. She is survived by her husband: Rev. Walter Middleton of the home; a stepdaughter, Lorna Thompson and husband James of Charlotte; a stepson, Arlin Walter Middleton and wife Rebecca of Sylva, a sister-in-law, Merle Buckner of Asheville; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be Monday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. Dr. John Bunn will officiate. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Memorials are Requested to Samaritans' Purse or Salvation Army.
