Sandra Nasuta Smith of Bryson City passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her family on October 25th, 2015 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
Born in Canton, Ohio, she is survived by her husband Dr. Mike Smith, son Vincent Brestle and wife Roxana, stepdaughter Kathy Jo Harman, stepson Jordan Smith and wife Vanessa. Other survivors include Sandy Nasuta and Family of Massillon, Ohio, grandchildren Dustin and Jesse Brestle, and Julie and Samantha Smith. Also surviving is lifelong friend Toni Kulich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Vincent and Mary Kathleen Nasuta, and brother Rick Nasuta.
Sandy was a retired payroll specialist and administrator. She let everyone lean on her when they were troubled and always knew the right words to say to comfort you. She loved her grandsons more than life itself. Sandy has a special way with all animals both domestic and wild. She adored her dog Pipsqueak beyond words, loved her other dogs Touie and Enis, and never met a cat she didn't like. Both proud and private, she loved her family and home, and gave all she had to her pets. Sandy always had a place in her heart for children and donated regularly to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Per her request the family will not hold any public viewing or services. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in her name be made to PAWS in Bryson City, NC or St. Jude Children's Hospital. The family would like to thank nurse Michelle Chromey and the staff at Memorial Mission for their professionalism and kindness.
