Samuel Davis Tucker

Samuel Davis Tucker, age 74, of Sylva, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024. Born on May 30th, 1950, in Virginia, Samuel was a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend with a heart devoted to service, love, and the great outdoors.

Samuel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps for an honorable 22 years, including two courageous tours in Vietnam. His dedication to his country was matched only by his love for his family and his passion for outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Samuel was a true outdoorsman, finding solace and joy in the beauty of nature.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patsy Mathis Tucker; his beloved son, Scotty Dale Tucker; his caring brothers, Cecil Tucker (Linda) and James Aaron Tucker Jr. (Lynn); his dear sisters, Helen Sellers (Tony) and Bernita Rodgers; and loving grandchildren, Holly Ann Tucker and Jeffrey Scott Tucker.  Samuel also leaves behind his special friend, Lane Cook, whose companionship meant the world to him.

Samuel was predeceased by his parents, James and Jemima Shook Tucker; his sister, Melissa Kay Arneach; and his brother, Ray Tucker. His absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his legacy of love, courage, and dedication will live on through them.

Arrangements are being handled by Appalachian Funeral Services. The family expresses their profound gratitude for all the support and condolences. Though he may be gone, the memory of Samuel’s warm smile, steadfast spirit, and indomitable love for his family and friends will remain with us always.

Rest in peace, Samuel. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
