Samuel Lee Howell, 59, of Sylva, transitioned from this earthly life on June 3, 2019, at Mountain Trace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. A lifelong resident of Sylva, Samuel was born January 29, 1960. His parents were the late Lillie Jo Howell and Vester Arnold (Stepfather).
At an early age, Samuel was baptized and became a member of Liberty Baptist Church. After graduating from Sylva-Webster High School in 1978, he pursued a career in retail sales. He was employed as a sales associate for Roses and Family Dollar Stores for several years.
"Sam" will be remembered for his friendly personality, politeness and contagious smile. He had a weird sense of humor, a style of his own, a green thumb for growing plants and could cook a tasty meal. Most of all, he exhibited a "good heart" to those who knew him well.
Survivors are three brothers from Sylva, James Phillip, Ronald Jr. and Donald Jr. Howell; one sister Janice (Clifford) Williams of Roseboro, NC, one aunt, Betty Howell of Lafayette, GA, one nephew Brian Williams, one grandnephew Brevin Williams both from Roseboro, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday June 8, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Lee and Wanda Moore officiating.
