Samuel I. Fisher, 95, of Sylva, passed away Tuesday August 1, 2017. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Jesse Towers Fisher and Mollie Jane Cogdill Fisher. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served with the 390th Bombardment Group H, 530 Squadron and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish as well as whittle and carve wood. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Nana Lee Himes Fisher.
He is survived by;
Daughter- Lillian Fisher Lampros of Sylva
Son- Samuel David Fisher (Vicki) of Sylva
Grandson- Adam Fisher of Whittier
Brother- Billy Gene Fisher of Sylva
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday August 4 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Revs. Eddie Stillwell, Dr. J.D.Grant and Brad Burns officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the Service at the Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
