Sabrina Kumar was a multi-instrumentalist who performed for the last twenty-five years across Western North Carolina, in symphonies and pit bands, on flute and other woodwind instruments. She was also known for her unique nature photography, capturing close-ups of the small creatures and plants of these mountains. Thanks to the effort of Dr. Michael Messino, she was able to enjoy almost three years virtually symptom-free following the onset of an aggressive glioblastoma. There was a recurrence this fall, and she passed away December 29, 2024, painlessly and peacefully in her home in Sylva, with her husband and family at her side. They request that her friends and neighbors honor her by planting a patch of bee balm or butterfly weed wherever it is needed, or by buying a ticket to a local event which employs live musicians.
Please join friends and family in watching a memorial presentation of her photos accompanied by her music. Friday, January 3, at 8pm Eastern (or you may watch it later on).
