Ruth Beasley Snyder, 96, went to her heavenly home on August 9, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Gaston County, but lived most of her life in Sylva, NC.
Ruth was the daughter of the late Burke Painter and Annie Frizzell Painter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Carl Beasley, and her second husband Rev. Melvin Snyder; two brothers Walter Painter and Conrad Painter; son-in-law Bruce Pike, and stepdaughter Jane Snyder McMahan. She was a member of Lovedale Baptist Church and spent her life showing her Christian love to her family and friends. She also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and books. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Emil Henning in Sylva and retired as a supervisor from Sylco Corporation in Sylva in 1982.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Brenda Deitz and son-in-law Loy Deitz, son Freddie Beasley, all of Sylva, and daughter Carolyn Pike of Asheville.
Also surviving are two sisters: Doris Monteith, and Mary Painter of Sylva; two brothers, Johnnie Painter of Sylva, and Harrison Painter of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law Sue Painter, and son-in-law Stan McMahan, both of Sylva. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home in Sylva on Friday August 12, 2016 at 2pm, with the Revs. Mike Farmer, Charles Dean, and Reed Benson officiating, and special words by granddaughter Hannah Menacof. The family will receive friends 12pm-2pm prior to the service. Internment is at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Special appreciation is extended to the 2nd and 3rd floor nursing staff of Harris Hospital and the Hospice team of Harris Lifepath.
