Russell Tapley Salter’s faith was made sight on February 18, 2025.
Russell, 56, of Dillsboro, was born on May 18, 1968, to the late Jim and Mary Salter in Brevard, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Salter. Russell worked for Phillips and Jordan Inc. for the last 9 years. He was an active in his church. He served as a deacon for many years.
He was the most wonderful husband, father, uncle, son, and friend. He loved unconditionally. Each person that knew him, loved him. He was the most generous person we knew and even more so evidenced by the countless stories we have been told since his home going. He loved the simplicity of things. Most importantly, he loved Jesus above all else. As heartbroken as we are to lose him, we grieve with hope through the assurance of Jesus Christ, that we will see him again.
Russell leaves behind his wife of 28 beautiful years, Tracy Salter of Dillsboro; daughter, Ruthie Salter and her fiancé AJ Cope and his daughter Peyton of Dillsboro; Brother Paul (Sarah) of Krum, TX; three nephews, Michael Salter, Augustus Salter, and Lucas Salter; one niece, Jody Salter; many friends and his sweet fur baby, Daisy Mae.
A celebration of life service will held at Lighthouse Church in Sylva on March 1, 2025. Visitation will be from 12 p.m.-2 p.m., and the service will follow with Pastor Mark Rogers officiating.
For those friends and family who cannot attend in person, Lighthouse will stream the service through their Facebook and YouTube pages both at “Lighthouse Sylva.”
The Bible verse the family would like to leave you with is John 11:25-26a Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”
We would like to thank his work family for their unwavering support and love through this difficult time.
If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, the family wants to encourage you to reach out to someone. Please call or text 988.
