Roy Dillard

Roy Dillard of Sylva, NC, went home to be with the Lord on November 19, 2021. He was the son of the late James Lee and Covia Hoglen Dillard. Roy was a member of Wilmot Baptist Church, an army veteran, and the former owner of Candy Service, Inc., known by his customers as “The Candy Man.”
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Melissa Jones Dillard, whom he loved and missed dearly. Roy was also preceded in death by his sisters Fern Raby, Shirley Brooks, and Joyce Dowdle. He is survived by one sister, Tommie Sue Curtis of Simpsonville, SC; daughter, Donna Revis, and her husband, Mike Revis, whom he thought of as a son; one son, Ben Dillard, and his wife Valerie Dillard, whom Roy thought of as another daughter; four grandchildren: Jake Revis (Hannah Doolittle), Mandy Tessin (Kevin Tessin), Faith Dillard (Jonathan Brooks), and Josiah Dillard; two great grandchildren: Leyton Grasty and Blayke Tessin.
Without a doubt, Roy loved and adored each of his grandchildren, always making sure there was an overflowing bowl of candy waiting for them at his house. He enjoyed relaxing on his back deck, watching the birds, and drinking many cups of coffee. Last but not least, his favorite breakfast food was a sausage biscuit from McDonalds.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Monday November 22, 2021 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with his son Ben Dillard, Rev. Charles Dean and Rev. Johnny Ray Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the Service at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nations Creek Cemetery fund in the care of Ceretta Davis, whose address is 733 Thomas Valley Road, Whittier, NC 28789.
