Rodi (Rosanne) Swift of Cullowhee, NC and Cape Coral, FL, died peacefully at the age of 85, on July 27th, 2016 surrounded by her family.
She was born to the late Kathrine (Pouge) Marshall and Earl Peter Marshall in Evansville, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her brothers Jack, Jim, and Chinky and sisters Alice and Kay.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 60 years, Tom Swift, daughter Susan, son Tim Swift Sr. and wife Donna; her grandchildren Tom Jr and Michael, plus her granddog Gilligan. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her brother Mike, and her sister/best friend Ruth Barnett.
Rodi married Tom in 1957, starting their family in Southern California. The relocated to Long Island ,NY and now divide their time between Florida and North Carolina.
Rodi worked for years to assist victims of sexual assault and domestic violence with Abuse Counseling and Treatment (A.C.T) of Fort Meyers, FL. She enjoyed sport fishing, was an accomplished tennis player and bowler. More recently, she volunteered with the Caney Fork community center. While living in North Carolina, Rodi gave much of her time and resources to the benefit of the Cherokee Nation.
Rodi was proud to have conquered her addiction to alcohol and cigarettes, recently celebrating 35 years of sobriety.
She was an avid reader, loved cooking, shopping, and the New York Times crossword. Above all, Rodi adored the Caney Fork Girlz who brought years of joy and laughter to her life.
In those precious final days with her family, she shared peace, courage, and grace with us all. Rodi was a class-act.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 4th, 2016, from 4pm until 7pm at the Best Western River Escape Inn, 248 WBI Drive, (off Haywood Road) in Dillsboro, NC.
