Ronald Wesley Stillwachs, age 74 of Alpharetta, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his daughter’s home in Sylva, NC. He was born on December 18, 1945 in Paterson, NJ, to the late Otto and Alice (nee Shatwell) Stillwachs.
He was a US Army Veteran that served our country during the Vietnam War. His brilliant mind led him in a variety of directions over his early years: skilled mechanic, an entrepreneur, computer programmer/analyst in New York City, and an investor. Ron’s quick wit and joke telling were legendary and immediately apparent to anyone who met him. Some of his favorite pastimes included reading, spending time by his pool, jet skiing, and visiting the Jersey Shore. He was a champion bowler, expert cartoon captioner, and undefeatable Words with Friends opponent. Ron particularly loved spending time with friends and family. He was extraordinarily generous and often gave his time, money, and energy to his friends, family, and many charitable causes.
Ron will be dearly missed by his children, Kimberly (and Philip) Neiheisel and Lori (and Will) Rogers; siblings, Steve Stillwachs, Marjorie Klein, and Sheryl Donner; and grandchildren, Logan, Willow, Elliott, Wesley, and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Tommy Stillwachs and Otto Stillwachs.
Ron requested that he be buried in a “place he can live with.” Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva, NC and Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home in Fair Lawn, NJ.
A socially distanced Celebration of Life will also be held at his home in Alpharetta, GA on August 15th, 2020. Please contact his daughter Kim for more information about either service at kimneiheisel@gmail.com.
Should friends desire, contributions in remembrance of Ron’s life, can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (http://shorturl.at/fsLO8) or to the National Veterans Foundation (https://nvf.org/).
