Robert Carl Larson lost a long battle with cancer on Oct. 5, 2018. Bob was born in Chicago, IL, on June 16, 1942, to Grace and Russell Larson. He grew up in Edgebrook. IL, along with his brother Philip and sisters Catherine Barr and Phyllis Myers. He attended the University of Illinois and North Park College and served in the USAF from 1963 until 1967. He ended his tour of duty at Beale AFB, CA, where he met his wife of 50 years, Levonna, in the nearby town of Marysville. They spent the next 30 years living in the Chicago area where Bob joined the family business of Charles E. Larson & Sons, producing iron and steel forgings primarily for the aircraft and space industry. Bob is survived by a son, Gerald Larson, a daughter, Tiffani Sims, grandchildren, Jessica Maison, Jonathan and Robbie Sims and Robert Larson, and great grandchildren, Baily Maison, Landon Maison and Raygan Boiter, all from the Greenville, SC area. After retiring in 1995, Bob and Levonna moved to the Carolinas splitting their time between Cashiers, NC and Edisto Island, SC until 2015 when they became full time residents on the shores of Lake Glenville. He served on the board of the Strawberry Hill HOA for 10 years as road commissioner. Bob’s greatest entertainment would be to engage you in conversation about politics or the stock market, which filled much of his time after retirement. He also loved fishing, boating, scuba diving and horseshoes. Bob was, and his wife continues to be a member of the United Methodist Church in Cashiers. He will be greatly missed.
