Robert Sylvester Brooks

Robert Sylvester Brooks, Sr. 84, of Sylva passed away on his birthday, Tuesday morning May 30th. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County he was the son of the late Adam and Effie Estes Brooks. A US Army veteran he served during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Brooks enjoyed fishing and retired from Buster Brown. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Pannel Brooks, two sons Joseph and Boyd Brooks; six brothers and one sister. He is survived by two sons, Robert Sylvester Brooks, Jr. (Deliah) and Lloyd Brooks (Tammy) both of Sylva; three grandchildren, Brent Brooks, Ashley Caldwell, and Brandi Cannon; and one great granddaughter, Abigail Caldwell. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Old Savannah Cemetery. . .
