Richard Louis Littrell went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 8, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Littrell was a Mason in the East LaPorte Lodge, No. 358. He was a member and a deacon at Black Mountain Baptist Church in Cullowhee. He loved carpentry work and did a lot of work for the church. Richard retired from WCU with 42 years of service.
Richard was the son of the late Edna Littrell. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister and her husband; Frances and Tony Higgins, three step-brothers; Kenneth, Eugene, and Phillip Ball, and one step-sister; Maxine Rogers.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years; Betty Dills Littrell and son Robert and wife Carolyn Littrell.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Black Mountain Baptist Church in Cullowhee with Revs. John Parks, Johnny Norris, and John Reid officiating. Richard will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery with a Masonic service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ben, John, and Phillip Dills, Ashton Fox, James Thompson, and Alan Bishop. Rob Pate will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services.
The family requests that masks be worn and to practice social distancing.
