Raymond McKinley Messer

Raymond McKinley Messer, age 90, of Sylva, NC passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Morning Star Assisted Living of Sylva, NC. Raymond was born May 8, 1925 in, Jackson County. He is the son of the late Wilburn McKinley and the late Gertrude (Ashe) Messer. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Messer who passed away July 5, 2012. Raymond is survived by two daughters Earlene Keever of Sylva, NC and Phyllis Chapman of Morganton, NC; one sister Galena Allison; three grandchildren Jessica Justice, Travis Keever and Staci Keever; three great- grandchildren Colton Justice, Lucas Keever and Nathan Keever. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Arnold and Reeves Messer and one sister Gladys Davis. A funeral service will be held Sunday May 24, 2015 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Service with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Parris Cemetery.
