Randall Mark Jones, July 9, 1951 - April 3, 2018
Randy passed away at his home surrounded by family and love after a short battle with cancer. He served honorably with the United States Army and was discharged from active duty in 1974. He had a satisfying career of over 25 years as an electrical instructor with Home Builder's Institute. He taught young men and women the technical and soft skills needed to start and build a career in the construction industry; he had a great impact on these students. Randy taught at the Flatwood, Jacksonville, and Oconaluftee Job Corps training centers. He cultivated his musical ear with like minded friends, playing guitar and fiddle in Sylva at a weekly jam at City Lights, at personal sessions in Franklin, at Cowee in the Rickman Store, and monthly at the Oconaluftee Visitor's Center. He is predeceased by his father, James Alexander Jones of Port Charlotte, FL and his brother Donald. He is survived by his wife, Noree Dudley-Hart of Cullowhee, his mother Reene Jones of Port Charlotte, sisters Barbara Jones Nees of Racine, WI, Nancy Jones Laport of Bloomfield Township, MI, and Karen Jones Willette of Fort Meyers, FL. He is also survived by a son, Todd Jones, and a daughter, Tyler Jones, of Bristol, TN., step-children Theodora, Anna, Mason, and Davis, and eight healthy, beautiful grandchildren. There will be a Commemorative Jam beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at City Lights Cafe in downtown Sylva. All are welcome!!
