Ralph E. Sams, Jr.

Ralph Emerson Sams, Jr. passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Autumn Care of Waynesville after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jerry Sams of Sylva; Son Kelly, and wife Ina Sams of Sylva; Two grandsons, Greg and Reid Sams of Fairview; one brother Raymond Sams. Ralph was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. After retiring from the family business in Asheville, he relocated to Etowah and was a long time member of Etowah Valley Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, card games, and croquet. Services will be held privately with his family. The family would like to say a special thank you to Autumn Care of Waynesville for their professional and compassionate care. Appalachian Funeral Services has been entrusted with all arrangements.
