Phillip Ray Trantham

Phillip Ray Trantham, age 66 of Sylva NC, passed away on Wednesday January 11, 2023.   He was born on February 6, 1956, in Jackson County, to the late Thomas Phillip and Mary Bell Wilkle Trantham. 

Ray was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to fish, hunt, and enjoyed the mountains. 

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Debra Mathis Trantham; son, Kevin; granddaughter, Allie Trantham; sisters, Frankie Johnson (Dale), Elizabeth Bennett; Fannie Mae Thompson; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Trantham, Arlene Trantham; and several nieces and nephews.
 
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Odell (Ida), Tom, Paul, Wayne, Carl (Rose); brother-in-law, Leamon Bennett and John Thompson.

Four Seasons Hospice provided wonderful care for Ray and the family is truly thankful for their services. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM – 2:00PM on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC, with a Funeral Service at 2:00PM. Revs. David Burch and Eddie Stillwell, officiating.  Interment will follow at Greens Creek Cemetery, Sylva.
