Peggy S. Smith, age 50, of 86 Dumplin Flats, Sylva died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Harris Regional Hospital of Sylva, NC. Mrs. Smith was born March 17, 1961 in Sylva, NC. She is the daughter of the late Jackie Ammons and the late Frances Pearl (Mathis) Farmer. She married Joseph Smith. She was pre-deceased by her parents, and a son, Jerry Dyer.
She is survived by her husband: Joseph Smith; her step-father, Harry Joe Farmer; a step-son, Jonathan Smith of Sylva, two daughters, Chrystal Shular of Miami, FL, and Melissa Seymour of Sylva; a step-daughter, Tina Smith of Sylva, four brothers, Douglas Allan Farmer of Franklin, Craig Farmer of Sylva, Buddy Ammons of Ft. Payne, AL, and Darrin Ammons of Sylva; two sisters, Renee Hooper and Vickie Grace, both of Sylva; and five grandchildren.
She was employed as a sales clerk in the fuel industry. She was a member of the Sylva Church of God. She loved to fish and spend time with her grand babies.
Visitation will be at Appalachian Funeral Services on Thursday March 31 from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. The funeral will follow in the chapel of Appalachian at 2:00 pm. with Reverend Pat Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the Keener Cemetery, following the funeral. Pallbearers will be John Ledford, Scott Mathis, Roger Smith, Lynn Higdon, Bill Hall, and Matt Boud.
