Peggy Sue Cagle, 89, a lifelong resident of Sylva, NC, peacefully joined her Lord in sleep on July 28, 2023.
Born into a family of faith and service on January 31, 1934, Peggy was the daughter of the late Sheriff Charles Griffin Middleton and Selma Reid Broome. She was a woman wholeheartedly devoted to Christ and raising her beautiful family.
She was a loving wife to her late husband of 57 years, Charles ‘Chig’ Edward Cagle Sr., and an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles ‘Eddie’ Edward Cagle Jr., and her sister, Doris Higdon and her husband Dennis.
Peggy leaves behind a loving family that includes her sister Jeanne Crawford and her late husband Charles, and her brother Charles Middleton and his wife Kelley. Her values and legacy of love will continue to live on through her three daughters who cared for her in her final years, Kim Gallardo and her husband JP, Cheri Espinosa and her husband Jaime, and Teri Jenkinson and her husband Carl. Their families, inclusive of grandchildren Regan Lovett (Paul), Rowdy Melton (Melissa), Lauren Villanti (Mark), Chyan Gallardo, Wesley Espinosa, Ellie Espinosa, Justin Davis (Matt), Melisa Hawk (Derrick), and Carlee Jenkinson, as well as her 12 great-grandchildren, serve as a testament to the importance of family in Peggy's life. Her love also extends to her many nieces, nephews, and friends who were as dear to her as family.
Our sweet Peggy, or beloved Mopies as she was known to her grandchildren, was a symbol of class and a steadfast believer in Christ. Although her absence will be deeply felt, her spirit and the special memories shared with her will forever provide us with warmth, guidance, and inspiration.
Friends and family are cordially invited to celebrate Peggy's life at the Sylva United Methodist Church, 77 Jackson St, Sylva, NC 28779, on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023. Visitation will commence from 1:30 pm to 3 pm, followed by a service at 3 pm.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Four Seasons Hospice Care staff, specifically Savannah Gass and Samantha Kasson, for the invaluable comfort and support they provided Peggy. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations made to the Four Seasons Foundation at fourseasonsfdn.org
