Peggy Lou Bell, 69, of Whittier passed away Tuesday November 24, 2015 at Harris Regional Hospital after battling extensive illnesses. Ms. Bell had recently retired from her career as an addictions counselor who specialized in DWI Education. She was the sole owner and administrator of PACE's DWI Program, located in the Birdtown Community of Cherokee. Her work was one of her great joys in life; she loved to help people that would often come to her feeling helpless. A 1964 graduate of Suitland HS in Maryland, Ms. Bell would receive her Associates Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling from SCC in 1996. Followed by a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from WCU in 1998 and a Master's in Social Work from the Cappella University in 2006.
She is survived by her son Charlie Bell of Sylva, and her grandson Tenyson Chronister of Belmont NC.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday December 5 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services.
