Pauline Plemmons Cope, 90, of Sylva, went home to be with her Lord on Friday August 19, 2016. She was born in Macon County but lived most of her life in Sylva, NC.
Pauline was the daughter of the late Marcus Astor Plemmons, Sr. and the late Myrtle Hurst Plemmons.
She was the Salutatorian of the Sylva High Class of 1943, a homemaker and seamstress. Pauline was the oldest member of Ochre Hill Baptist Church and served many years as Church Clerk and Nursery worker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Zella Mae Plemmons, Thelma Plemmons, Mary Ann Jamison, Alma Beasley; three brothers, Astor "Bud" Plemmons, Jr., Lawrence Plemmons and J.D. Plemmons.
Pauline is survived by her husband of 69 years Charles Jack Cope, one son, Eddie Cope (Peggy) of Sylva, one daughter, Karen Buchanan (Davis) of Ellijay, GA; one sister, Naomi Turpin (Jim) of Sylva; four grandchildren, Brandy Sutherland (Teddy), Jeremy Buchanan, Brandy Hubbard, and Keta McCall (Desten); four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as special friends Troy and Jean McMahan and caregiver Marlow Lewis also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday August 22 at Ochre Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. JD Grant and Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday evening at Appalachian Funeral Services. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
