Paula Dowdle

Paula Stillwell Dowdle, 66 of Sylva passed away on December 14, 2023 at Mission Hospital after a period of declining health surrounded by her loving family.  She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was the youngest child of the late Frederick and Anne Stillwell, of Glenville and had seven brothers and sisters.

Paula worked at Hooper’s Drug Store and Kel-Save for many years. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Bella. She was member of the last graduating class of Glenville High School.  She was known for her kind and loving heart and enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Bill and George Stillwell.

Surviving Paula are her husband of almost 46 years Johnny Dowdle, sons Joshua (Amy) of Marion, Jerry (Ashley) of Sylva, and grandchildren Jackson, Cora and Justice of Marion, and Amelia and Walker of Sylva. She was also survived by siblings, Jeanie Kelley, Warren Stillwell (Loretta), Libby Hall (Carrol), Richard Stillwell (Joan), and Margie Lewis (Tim).

At Paula’s request no services will be held.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to:
