It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Joseph Elkovich, a beloved brother, uncle, and dear friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 65 on Monday, April 14th.
Paul was a remarkable man known for his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey in 1959, Paul spent his life fostering connections and uplifting those around him. He loved his job of many years as a United States postal worker and after moving to North Carolina in 2019 with his late wife Norma, his passion for helping others was evident through his generous volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and the Friends of the Library Book Store in Sylva NC, where he touched the lives of countless individuals. Paul found joy through his various friendships, particularly the new friends he met while working at the casino.
Paul is survived by his loving siblings, Richard & Thomas Elkovich, Nancy Fistunenko, Janet & Marion Elkovich, and his cherished nieces and nephews, who will forever remember his playful spirit and loving guidance. As an uncle and great uncle, he delighted in sharing stories and laughter with his family, creating memories that will last a lifetime. He will be forever missed.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held soon, where friends and family are invited to gather and share their favorite memories. Date and Time will be updated here as soon as possible.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meal on Wheels NC in honor of Paul’s commitment to community service.
