Oscar "Jim" Woodard Jr

Oscar "Jim" Woodard Jr., 79, of Sylva, passed away Thursday December 30, 2021.

Jim grew up in Jackson County and enjoyed all that it had to offer with his family. If he was not in the Tuckasegee River fishing, he was on top of the mountain hunting for ginseng or supper for his family and others. Those who met him quickly realized that he would go out of his way to help anyone and what a loving, caring and generous man he was. He was the youngest of 3 boys and 7 girls.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; Mary Angela Woodard, and his parents; Oscar and Bessie Woodard.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Joyce Woodard of the home
His sons; William Eric "Tinker" Woodard, Jeffery "Jeff" (Brenda Levi) Woodard, Edward Scott (Dianna) Woodard
5 Grandchildren; Jason, Miranda, Timmy, Angela and Aaron
One Great Grandchild- Aiden
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you share in his generosity by making donations to the Jackson County Council on Aging, 100 County Services Park, Sylva, NC 28779.
And in lieu of a visitation the family suggests that you take time and visit those you Love.
