Murriel Nations Woodard, age 90, of Sylva died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Skyland Care Center of Sylva, NC. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mrs. Woodard was born April 21, 1925. She is the daughter of the late Claude and the late Lillie (Seagle) Nations. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roy David Woodard, a son, Lee Roy (Poker) Woodard, and brothers, Regal, Claude, Jr. and Laburn Nations.
She was a member of Scotts Creek Baptist Church, the American Legion, along with various volunteer organizations. She loved to garden and she loved her family dearly.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Woodard Boyer and husband Gary, and Pauline Woodard Maney and husband Johnny; grandchildren Cathy Garren, Lynn Ray, Leanne Mattison, Shane and Dana Boyer, Chris and Tripp Maney, and twelve greatgrandchildren; sisters, Vera Eusantos, Illene Buchanan, Chera Lee Parris, Willce Nations; and a brother, Cecil Nations.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Scotts Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Lee officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Sylva, NC.
