Monroe Franks, age 70, of , Bryson City died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Tsali Care Center in Cherokee, NC. Monroe was born July 17, 1944 in Jackson County. He is the son of the late Cleo and Gracie Webb Franks and was preceded by two brothers James and Bill Franks.
He served in the Army National Guard. He was a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his wife: Sarah (Jenkins) Franks; Sisters Velma and husband Ruben Longorie, Nancy Franks, Glenda Green and Cleatus and husband Bob Holloway all of Sylva and one brother Gene and wife Peggy Franks of Seneca, SC. One son Blain Franks of Candler and two daughters Tammy Franks of Bryson City and Carolyn and husband Rick Standingdeer of Cherokee. Grand Daughter Teresa and husband Matt Stephen two grandsons Chase Cochran and Jason Lujan and two great granddaughters Kayla and Jolene Stephen. .Funeral service will be held Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Steve Webb officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday November 18, 2014 at Appalachian Funeral Services.
