Minnie Lee Morgan

Minnie Lee Morgan, 88 of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Sadie Green Cogdill. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Sim Morgan. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Phyllis Brown.

Minnie Lee loved quilting, cooking, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a homemaker and provided child care for several children during earlier years. Minnie loved the Lord and was a member of Buff Creek Baptist Church.

Minnie Lee is survived by one daughter, Sheila Taylor (Gary) of Brevard; two sons, Neil Morgan and Danny Morgan (Pam) both of Sylva; four grandchildren, Kristy Aiken (Jeremy), Kim Swingle (Joe), Amanda Carnes (Bryan), Ashley Crowe (Nathan); seven great- grandchildren; two extended grandchildren, Tyler Sutton and Tate Jacobs. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Ernie Jamison officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
