Mildred "Millie" Carter Farmer, 69, of Whittier, passed away Wednesday September 19, 2012 at her residence. Born May 9, 1943 in Murphy, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Hettie Dockery Carter. She had worked at Parker's Drugstore in Murphy and Kel-Save Drugstore in Sylva for many years. She retired in 2011 from Sylva Medical Center. Millie loved to cook for her family and friends and she had published her own cookbook. She loved music, gardening and loved helping people. She is survived by her husband of 35 years Burt Farmer 1 Daughter- Charlene and her husband Jamie Clark of Whittier 2 Brothers- Junior Carter and his wife Genoa, Hubert Carter and his wife Lura, all of Murphy, NC 3 Sisters- Maebelle Dockery of Murphy, NC, Nell McDonald of Gainesville, GA and Margie Curtis and her Husband Larry of Atlanta Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, September 22 at Appalachian Funeral Services Chapel with the Revs. William P. Farmer, Edward Carter and Doug Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Gardens, Sylva on Saturday, September 22 at 2:00 pm. .
