Michael Robert Sheets

Michael Robert Sheets, 84 of Balsam, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 23, 2024. Mike was born on January 3, 1940, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Paul Grimes and Charlotte Pauline Denke Sheets. Mike lived most of his life in Daytona Beach, FL, before moving to his beloved mountain home in Balsam, NC. Mike and his “Child Bride” Susan Lockridge Sheets retired to their mountain home in early 2005.

Mike loved boating, being on the water, traveling to the Bahamas, and most of all his children. He enjoyed working on his 34’ Tradewinds Trawler “Patience” his pride and joy. His death leaves a huge empty hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Mike was a dedicated member of SCV Jackson Rangers Chapter #1917.

Mike is survived by his wife Susie of 45 years; children, Mark Robert Sheets (Kristine Keeler), Marvin Arnold Sheets, Spencer Kelly, Sheryl Kelly, Michele Tompkins; grandchildren, Austin (Kristin), Jeremy, Matthew, Kayleigh, Samantha, Olivia, Nathan; great grandchildren, Zaydin, Trustin, Lytin, Oaklin; daughter-in-law, Tina Sheets.
