Maurice William Shuler

Maurice William Shuler, age 85, of Sylva, died Friday, September 18, 2015 at Skyland Care Center. Mr. Shuler was born January 31, 1930 in Swain County. He was employed by Dayco as a Pipe Fitter. He loved motorcycles, old cars, working and telling stories. He was also a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in the Willets community. He was preceded in death by his parents Burgin and Margie (Parker) Shuler; siblings Harold Shuler, Judy Queen, and Louise Howell; daughter Maurica West and son Larry Proctor. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Christine Shuler ; daughter Pamela Shuler of Sylva, son Mark Shuler of Sylva, son Marty Shuler of Charlotte, NC, daughter Christy Campbell of Charlotte, NC, daughter Iris Earl of Atlanta, GA, and son Gary Shuler of Florida. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, September 21 from noon until 2:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Home in Sylva. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm following the visitation, with Rev. Earl Holden officiating. Burial will be in Garrett Hill Crest in Waynesville, NC. Appalachian Funeral Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. .
