Mary Helen Moody Coggins, of Glenville, passed away Monday evening, December 24, 2012 on her 71st birthday. A lifelong resident of Jackson County Mary was born December 24, 1941. She is the daughter of the late Tillmon and the late Lillian (Robinson) Moody. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Marshall, Crawford and Larry; and two sisters, Mamie and Margie.
She was employed as a beautician and owned her own business. She loved collecting state quarters and was a practical joker who loved to make people laugh and smile. She loved her family, children and grandchildren, they were her entire life.
She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Coggins and husband, Mark, of Charlotte and Connie and husband, Bobby Coxton, of Ruby, SC; three grandchildren, Riley, Savannah, and Ashley; three brothers, RL Moody of Idaho, Tillmon Moody of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and James Moody of Glenville; three sisters, Henrietta (Penny) Bentley of Glenville, Bobbie Davis of Waynesville, and Linda Ward and husband Paul of Whittier; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm, with the Reverend Johnny Norris attending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Rathbun House, 2012 Rathbun Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC, 28803.
