Martha Lou Buchanan

Martha Lou Buchanan, age 70 of Sylva NC, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her family, on Saturday March 18, 2023.  She was born on January 5, 1953, in Jackson County, to the late Earl & Lilly Shuler Cagle.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Steve; daughter, Tonya Harris (Ben); twin sister, Mary Sue Cross (Gregg); sister, Jessie Shields (Jack); brothers, Allen (Martha), and Earl Jr. Cagle (Nancy); her two granddaughters, the lights of her life, Kayla (Logan) and Karly, and one great-grandbaby, Wade Ensley, due to arrive in May; and her dog, Ellie Mae.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Burnette Cagle; sisters, Annie Dee Moore, Wilma, Artie Cagle; and half-sister, Nanette Buchanan.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM – 8:00PM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC.  A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00PM, on Wednesday, March 22, at Locust Field Baptist Church, Macktown Rd.  Rev. Gary Moore, officiating.   Interment will follow at Cagle Cemetery.
