Marion Ervin "Jitterbug" Ammons, age 69, of Webster died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Harris Regional Hospital of Sylva, NC. Marion was born May 24, 1946 in Sedro Woolley, WA.. He is the son of the late Clyde and the late Agnes (Griffin) Ammons. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Gary Lee Ammons, and two brothers, Clarence and Jackie Ammons.
He owned and operated Ammons Auto Sales. He was a member of Wilmont Baptist
Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his church, playing with his grandchildren, and loved making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Patsy Powell Ammons; children, Keith Randall (Jennifer) Ammons and Lisa Ammons (Derek) Brewton; grandchildren, Joshua Lee Ammons, Natalie Marie Brewton, Grayson Randall Ammons, and Fara Ava Rose Ammons; and a great grandchild, Paislee Monroe Ammons.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 12 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Revs. Johnny Ray Davis, Michael Queen and Austin Frady officiating. Burial will follow in Parris Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 6 until 8 pm at Appalachian. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wilmont Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 948, Whittier, NC, 28789.
Pallbearers will be: Roy Queen, Bill Cogburn, Bob Frady, Lester Greene, Bill McGaha, Lonny Nations, and Doug Powell, honorary pallbearer.
