Margret Hussey, 90, of Sylva died on November 4, 2012 at her residence.
Born on February 6, 1922 in Newland, IN, she was the daughter of Herman Jacob Kuppers and Gladys Harlow Kuppers. She grew up in Vero Beach, FL and spent her married life in and around Chatham, NJ. She and her husband, Allan F. Hussey, retired to Cullowhee in 1980.
She is renowned among her family and friends for her skill and artistry in needlework, including quilting, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. Her family rejoiced in the generous gifts of her hands from quilts and clothing to household textile art. She was active in the Presbyterian Church both in New Jersey and North Carolina serving as both a Deacon and an Elder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers.
Surviving are sons, John Hussey and his wife Laura of Delhi, NY and Stephen Hussey of Greenfield, MA; daughters, Anne Harlow of Sylva, NC and Deborah Hussey and her husband Louis Spagna of Cullowhee, NC; one sister, Mary Jeffrey of Sandusky, OH; one sister-in-law, Faith Kuppers of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Sylva Presbyterian Church on Sunday December 2, 2012 at 3:00 pm. A reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow the service.
