Mamie Brown Queen, 98, passed away Wednesday November 25, 2015. Born in Tuckasegee to the late Alfred and Varina Wood Brown she had recently been residing in Cary, NC. She was a former member of Rocky Holler Baptist Church. Mamie loved family gatherings and was a very loving mother that always put her family first. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Paul Queen, 2 sons; Wayne and Claude Queen and her 4 sisters; Elva Shook, Hester Woodring, Alda Middleton and Marie Coward. She is survived by 1 Daughter- Marvita Queen McMahan of Sylva 1 Son- Frank Alfred Queen and his wife Virginia of Fuquay-Varina, NC 4 Grandchildren- Donna, Michael, Carlos and Joshua 4 Great Grandchildren- Brandon, Dustin, Collin and Finley 3 Great Great Grandchildren- Levi, Autumn and Cory Several nieces and nephews also survive Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday November 29 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Shook Cemetery. . .
