Florence Louise Dibble, age 89, of Sylva joined Heaven's choir on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Florence was born October 26, 1925 in Mansfield, OH. She is the daughter of the late James Raymond Turner and the late Winifred (Weld) Turner. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Raymond; two sisters, Jean Flinchbaugh and Mary Virginia Ralston; and a nephew, David Ralston.
Louise obtained a BA in music from Park College, MO, and a MA in music from Ohio State University. She also had a certificate in medical assistantship. She attended the Philadelphia Academy of Vocal Arts. She taught voice and was a vocalist for Ohio State University. She loved all forms of music and performed opera all over Ohio. She was a soloist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for five years. She loved travel and had visited every state and had traveled all over the world. Louise spent much of her life in Sarasota, FL and lived here in the past four years.
She is survived by three daughters, Lynne and Bill Johnson of Sylva, Dee Dibble of Cullowhee, and Joy and John Nagy of Johnson City, TN; four grandchildren, Kelsi Williams and Melissa Wilson of Waynesville, Emily Nagy and Joseph Nagy of Johnson City, TN; and six great-grandchildren.
A family celebration of Louise's life will be held in the spring.
